Activities for Kids

For those families who reside in the Tampa Bay Area, or are coming here for vacation, you may not have a game plan or you're running out of ideas to keep your children occupied.  Don't worry; there are plenty of activities throughout the region that were made just for kids, teenagers and adults who are young at heart.

Two popular places right off the bat are Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and the Adventure Landing Water Park.  Information about these two popular family-oriented facilities can be found on our Outdoor Adventures Page.

Children and parents, rev up your engines.  Well, to be more specific motors, as the Grand Prix Tampa presents one of the best area Go-kart operations in the region. Located on North Nebraska Avenue, Grand Prix Tampa is loaded with liveliness.  Two large Go-kart tracks, miniature golf, paintball field, batting cages, bungee jumping, and arcade games are just the start of the fun everyone can have there.

Do your kids need to be cooled off?  Besides Adventure Island, the area's ice cream shops and ice skating rinks are other terrific places to catch a break from the heat, especially during the summer months.

The exhibits at The Florida Aquarium, Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo and Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) will astound and delight the entire family for hours.

Children and parents alike will enjoy all the wonderful parks the City of Tampa has to offer.  Many of them contain pools, ball fields, playgrounds, play courts, and picnic areas.

You may also consider taking your children to one of the many thrilling sports events that take place in the area.

A great out-of-town trip that your kids would absolutely love, is to Orlando.  Just 90 miles West from Tampa will put you amidst major tourist attractions such as Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal Studios.

The 34-mile long Pinellas Trail in Pinellas County offers residents and visitors of all ages a scenic outdoor experience.  About 90,000 persons take advantage of the Trail every month, which goes from Downtown St. Petersburg all the way up to Tarpon Springs.  So lace up your in-line skates, hop on your bicycle or put on your jogging shoes and head on over to the Pinellas Trail for a pleasant fitness experience.

If these ideas don't appeal to your children or if they already had a great time at them but are looking for more fun things to do locally, there are always the kid-friendly options of the area beaches, malls and move theatresYou can even take them to one of the many Hillsborough County Library Branches or Pinellas County Library Branches to occupy their time and minds.

It's also worth noting that many of the hotels and resorts in Tampa Bay have kids programs, so if you're planning a trip here, look into the activities that cater to children at your hotels of choice beforehand.

Whatever kind of fun your kids end up having, you'll have the piece of mind in knowing you kept them active, entertained and away from being bored.  We're sure you'll agree that's a major accomplishment for any parent!
