In The
Greater Tampa Bay Area, there are quite a
few wonderful choices when it comes to obtaining
a well-rounded secondary education.
One
of the largest and most recognized universities in the region is the
University
of South Florida, part of Florida's State University System.
They have a considerable amount of degree
programs at their thriving and active North Tampa campus, to go along
with their highly regarded Division I NCAA
Athletics. Approximately
45,000 students attend the University
of South Florida, and are involved in their more
than 80 undergraduate and master degree programs. USF has 18
colleges, schools and institutions including: the College of Arts and
Sciences; College of
Business; College of Marine Science; College of Engineering; School of
Music; College
of Education; College of Medicine; and School of Art & Art
History.
Founded
in 1934, Jacksonville University is a private co-educational liberal
arts university
located in Downtown Tampa. Undergraduate and graduate
students
can choose from roughly 100 degree programs in a wide range of studies.
Communications, biology, marine science, business management,
criminology, and nursing are some of the more popular degree
programs at the University. The University of Tampa Spartans
compete in the Sunshine State Conference of NCAA Division II athletics,
in a variety of sports such as soccer, volleyball, football and crew.
Hillsborough Community College is a fantastic public
comprehensive institution
to pick up credit and non-credit courses towards a
degree, or if you just
want to
further your knowledge about a particular subject. More than
50,000 students are enrolled at Hillsborough Community College's regional campuses.
The
Art Institute of Tampa is a branch campus of the Miami
International University of Art & Design and has a bustling
state-of-the-art campus that is easily accessible by public
transportation or via Interstate 275. The background of their
experienced faculty and staff comes from a host of art genres and they
teach programs in culinary, media arts and design.
Another
fine art-type of institution is the International Academy of Design
& Technology, also referred to as the Tampa Fashion School.
Since 1977, the
International Academy of Design & Technology has been
successfully
teaching and honing the creative skills of its students for the
workplace.
A
terrific law
school in Tampa is the Stetson University College of
Law,
which provides students with a law program with high academic standards
that produces excellent legal professionals.
Everest University, formerly Florida
Metropolitan University, teaches
hands-on career training with small work teams from their West
Hillsborough Avenue
campus in areas such as Paralegal, Massage Therapy, Applied Management
and Pharmacy Technician.
DeVry University has two campuses in Tampa, they stress academic
support
and offer many different technology-based Undergraduate and Graduate
degree programs as well as a laundry list of Graduate Certificates.
Southwest Florida College is a non-profit private and accredited senior
college, offering programs
in vital areas with a high job growth
potential, including health care, computers and programming, digital
design, information technology, and
business.
